Lødrupbunad

The Lødrup Bunad is a festive traditional costume from Østerdalen, designed by Ruth Arnestad Lødrup in the 1940s. It is available in black or a unique pale red version, with contrasting colored edges and floral embroidery in blue, white, and red. The bodice features characteristic flaps and fastens with hooks, while the skirt has four embroidered vine patterns and a wide center pleat in front. At Hulda Bunader, you’ll find high-quality fabric and complete material kits to sew your own Lødrup Bunad.

This bunad was created by Ruth Arnestad Lødrup on commission from the Tynset Husflidslag between 1941 and 1948. It shared first place in a competition for a festive bunad design for Østerdalen, alongside the Maria Aaen bunad.

Colors

The Lødrup Bunad comes in three color variations: black, light blue, and a rare pale red. At Hulda Bunader, we offer the black and pale red versions. All garments have narrow contrasting edges—red on black, blue on red. The floral embroidery is done in four colors: dark blue, medium blue, white, and red. The skirt and shoulder area of the vest feature vine-like patterns in the same red as the bunad fabric.

Bodice

The bunad bodice has flaps (called “skjøter”) sewn along the waistline. On the back, these flaps are cut as one piece with the back panel. It closes with either visible tin hooks or hidden hooks.

Shirt

The bunad can be worn with a traditional embroidered linen shirt (the same used with the Tynset Women’s Association costume) or with a white cotton shirt with lace edges. We currently do not offer materials for the linen shirt.

Accessories

There is no specific silver jewelry designed for the Lødrup Bunad, but a heart-shaped brooch at the neckline—typical for Østerdalen—matches beautifully.

Price

The complete Lødrup Bunad, fully sewn, is NOK 40,000.*
*Includes bodice, skirt, purse, and cotton shirt. An additional charge applies for waist measurements over 110 cm.
